Marguerite Owen, 83, passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends at St Andrew Bay Skilled Nursing Center.
She was a member of Hiland Park Baptist Church. Marguerite was born in Starke, Florida and moved to Panama City in 1957. She worked in the upholstery business, before opening Marquerite’s Donut Shop. She was employed by Royal American Management as Manger of Royal Arms Garden Apartment for 20 Years. She was a singer songwriter that played in many area clubs in the sixties. She was also known by many for her stories and poetry.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Rosetta Newton, Husband, Wayne E. Owen, Brother, Roger Newton and Sister Thelma Owens.
She is survived by her brother Ralph Newton of Jacksonville Fl, Children Jimmy Owen of Prosperity, FL, Diane Breeden of Conroe, TX, Jeffery Owen of Panama City Donna Cordrey of Panama City, FL, Nine Grandchildren ,16 Great Grandchildren and Life friend William “Dub” Chaplin.
Memorial services will begin at 3:00 PM Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Brannon officiating.
