Griffin John Robinson, 79, of Port Byron, IL and a winter resident of Panama City Beach, Florida since 2002, passed away January 12, 2018 at Bay Medical Center in Panama City, Florida.
Griff was born October 29, 1938 in Detroit, MI to William and Marybelle (Whitchurch) Robinson. In 1957, Griff married Pam Sharp and in 2017 they celebrated 60 amazing years together and were "lifetime sweethearts." He was a United States Navy Veteran, a 50 year member of the Patriot Masonic Lodge F&AM #650 of Burlington, IA, and was a member of the NRA. In 1993, Griff retired with 30 years as an electrician with ALCOA. Griff owned multiple farms and was an accumulator of countless things. He loved "wheeling and dealing" in all things and the people he met while doing it.
Griff is survived by his wife Pam and children Lynne (Bill) Miller of Moline, IL, Jeff (Michelle) Robinson of Coal Valley, IL, John (Shari) Robinson of Cordova, IL and Lorri (Rod) Stalsberg of Port Byron, IL; his brothers, Michael (Darlene) Robinson of Volant, PA and Richard (Candice) of Port Huron, MI; his brother-in-law, Dr. John (Dr. Victoria) Sharp of Iowa City, IA; fifteen grandchildren along with twelve great-grandchildren.
His family was his greatest joy and blessing.
A Celebration of Griff's life will be held on April 21st at 11 am at the First Southern Baptist Church, 305 1st Street, Colona, IL with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Griff's memory to Shriner's Hospital For Children and the Illinois Genesis Health System Visiting Nurses Association.
His favorite saying was, "He knows not the pleasures of plenty who never felt the pains of poverty."
