CAPT. JOHN HOWARD TATE
Capt. John Howard Tate, 75, of Panama City Beach, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017. John was born in Carrabelle, FL and grew up in Panama City where he attended Bay High in the class of 1959. He was a yacht captain and fisherman who traveled the world for many years in the profession he loved so much.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Mary L. "Sis" Tate; two children, John L. Tate (Shamela) of Jupiter, FL and Johanna Camba (Michael) of New York City; his siblings, Marylou Steiner (Rudy) of Panama City, Ramona Finnegan (Joe) of Panama City, Jan Lightner (Guy) of Youngstown, Frank Tate of Panama City, Leonard Tate (Pat) of Duluth, GA and Larry Tate (Alice) of Panama City; his two beloved grandsons, Jonathan Tate of St. Augustine and Roman Camba of New York City; and many nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's name may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 W. 19th St., Panama City, FL 32405.
