Louis W. Ray, 85, of Panama City, Florida passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at a local care center.
He was a resident of Panama City for 39 years and a member Northside City Church. Louis served in the Army National Guard in Macon, GA. Louis retired after 32 years achieving the rank of Sgt. Major and also retired from Columbia Research in Panama City. He founded St. Andrews Machine Shop in 1978. Mr. Ray enjoyed helping his neighbors working outdoors.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Elizabeth Sharp Ray; children, Donna Jo Martin; brother, Willis Alvin Ray and Infant George; sister, Bessie Ruth King.
He is survived by son, Mike Ray (Cindy); son-in-law, John Martin and his beloved cat, Midnight; grandchildren, Stacey Marie Blankenship, Kelli Nichole Davis, and Joshua Michael Ray; great-grandchildren, Kenzy Davis, Zack Davis, and Tanner Ray.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Saturday, 24, 2017, at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Luther Stanford officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 23, 2017, at the funeral home.
