MAVIS JEANETTE STEWART FICKLING

Mavis Jeanette Stewart Fickling (Jeanette), 77, of Panama City, FL, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home. Jeanette was born on September 10, 1939, in Bay Minette, AL, to Frank Johnson and Mattie Bell Stewart. The ninth of thirteen children, she was raised on her family's farm. It was there that she met and married the love of her life on December 22, 1956, and began to build her family. After her children were born, Jeanette devoted her life to being a homemaker. She was a talented seamstress, wonderful cook, loyal school volunteer, and devoted wife and mother. After raising her family, she returned to work outside the home at JC Penney, where her talent for party planning and her impeccable sense of style were put to great use for 20 years until her retirement.

Jeanette is survived by her husband of sixty years, Webb D. Fickling; two children, Lindsey Fickling (Susie) of Panama City, FL, and Teresa Kennedy (Mark) of Pineville, NC; four grandchildren, Mallory Sullivan (Philip), Kelsey Little (Sean), Alison Harper (Nick), and Matthew Kennedy (Jenn); five great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Mason, Webb, Brooks, and Anniston; and niece, Betty Munn of Fairhope, AL.
A true southern lady and gracious hostess who loved nothing more than caring for the ones she treasured, Jeanette’s greatest passion and accomplishment in life was her family. Through her long illness, she and her husband set an example of true love and devotion that will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
Jeanette and her unconditional love will be dearly missed by all those who had the opportunity to know her.
Jeanette's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren gave her an incredible amount of joy and feel there is no better way to honor her than to give back to those in need, as she always did for others—thus, the family asks that donations be made in her name to Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy Center in lieu of flowers. Friends and family will be received at 1:00pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Panama City, FL with a memorial service immediately following.
