Robert E Smith

Robert “Bob” Earl Smith, Jr., USN, ret., 77 of Panama City, passed away September 22, 2017 at his home. Bob was born December 7, 1939 in Greenville, SC to Robert and Naomi (Speares) Smith, Sr., and moved here in 2004 coming from Jacksonville, FL. Bob is a retired United States Naval Aircraft Electrician and Vietnam War Veteran with over 20 years of service. Throughout his career, Bob earned many commendations including the Navy Achievement Medal. Bob was united in marriage in 1974 to his wife, Thea who resides in Panama City. He is also survived by his children, Christopher (Jennifer) Smith and Terah (Jake) Simpson; from his previous marriage, Patricia (Dave) Gammill, Donna (Jeff) King and Robin (Bruce) Randall; his sisters, Faith (Benny) Radcliff and Kathy (Brian) Carroll; his grandchildren, Phillip & Andrew Smith, Ansleigh & Myril Simpson, James Gammill, Michael (Betty) Gammill and Kristin (Lindsey) Lang; his great-grandchildren, Mazie and Mabry Lang and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Saturday from 1-2 pm at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home where a Celebration of Bob’s Life will take place at 2pm. A reception will follow at Hiland Park Baptist Church.
