Sally Ann Meabon

Sally Ann Meabon, age 80, of Castle Hayne, NC, went to be with the Lord, on Thursday, September 7, 2017. She was born in Geneva, New York, on May 13, 1937, to the late Harlow M. and Nella Margaret Lindsay Close.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and caring for her family. She took a great interest in genealogy. She spent countless hours researching her entire family history. She was devoted to her church family at Living Waters Ministries in Wilmington, NC.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Henry Ronald Nelson of Lynn Haven, FL; brother, Richard Lynn Close, of Geneva, NY; sister, Beverly June Snow of Newark, NY; and step daughter-in-law, Sylvia R. Frazier.
She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Charles D. Meabon of Castle Hayne, NC. Also surviving are her children Henry R. Nelson II and his wife Leili, Chris Nelson and his wife Kim, and Jennifer Buffkin and her husband William, her step-children Joseph Meabon and his wife Jill, Tina Lewis and her husband Gary, and Teresa Wagoner and her husband Kenneth; her brother Harlow Bruce Close and wife Anna; 4 grandchildren: Ryan Sawyer, Lindsay Nelson, Victoria Buffkin, and Alexis Buffkin; 6 step-grandchildren Nicholas Meabon, Daniel Meabon, Sarah Russ and husband Perry, Michael Lewis and wife Sydney, Nicole Wagoner, and Rebecca Wagoner; 2 great grandchildren: Benjamin Russ and Hannah Russ; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Living Water Ministries, Camp Dixie Fund, 141 Middle Sound Loop Rd., Wilmington, NC 28411.
Friends will be received Friday from 2-3 pm at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home where funeral services will take place at 3pm. Interment will be held privately at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
