Sergeant, Alan Burnett Poynter, U S Army, ret., 60 of Panama City Beach passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at his home. Alan was born August 19, 1958 in Louisville, KY to Gary and Patricia (Lindsey) Poynter and moved to Panama City Beach in 2012. Alan is retired from the United States Army and served his country during the Gulf War and Desert Storm Wars. Alan was an avid gun collector who loved to ride his motorcycle and going to the beach. He is preceded in death by his father, Gary and his brother, Douglas. Alan was united in marriage to his wife Marissa on December 19, 2015 who resides in Panama City Beach. He is also survived by his mother, Patricia of Lousiville, KY; his sister, Cindy (Greg) Baumgardner of Mt. Washington, KY; his daughters, Melissa Poynter, Hollie Napier, Andrea Brown and Gabrielle Devanney all of Kentucky; his son, Justin (Alea) Whiteside of Panama City; his step-daughters, Jaime (Kovy) Bickel of Mt. Washington, KY, Stacy (Robert) Louisville, KY, Heather (Chris) Grey of Mt. Washington, KY and Harley (Max Franck) McNamee of Panama City and his sixteen grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. Friends will be received 3-4 pm Saturday at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home where memorial services will take place that afternoon at 4pm.
