Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Alan L. Stone passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 from complications of Cholangio Carcinoma.
He was born in Philadelphia, Mississippi on October 8, 1938 the son of John and Edith Stone. When AIan was 10 years old, he and his family moved to his Uncle's family farm west of Paris, Missouri and it was there he spent the rest of his childhood. He attended the University of Missouri and in 1962 received his BS degree in Math Education. Upon completion of college, he joined the US Air Force and served for over 26 years in the Weapon's Controller field with various assignments in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Canada, Alaska and two assignments to Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.
Alan and Marcia were high school sweethearts and married July I, 1962 at a small rural church in Granville, Missouri. They celebrated their 55th anniversary last year. Alan was an active member of the Parkway Presbyterian Church in Callaway, Florida and served as an elder on the church session.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia; two daughters, Allison Kay Hunter (Bryan), Houston, Texas and Teresa Ann Stone (Craig), Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ashley Kay Hunter, Forrest Gage Bushstone and Sage Marin Bushstone; sister Diane Clark (Steve), Marietta, Georgia.
Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. Saturday March 31, 2018 followed by a Memorial Service with full military honors at 2:00 P.M. at Parkway Presbyterian Church.
