Annie Laura Stephenson Barrier, 90 of Springfield, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at her home. Annie was born March 9, 1928 in Kilbourne, LA to John C. and Blanch (Smith) Stephenson, Sr. and moved to Springfield from Parris Island, SC. Annie was a faith member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was employed as a dispatcher with the Springfield Police Department for over 13 years. She was also a member of Jolly Workers and ay County Council on Ageing. She was united in marriage to her husband, William P. Barrier, USMC, ret. who preceded her in death in 1998. She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Bradley; her siblings, Dorothy Johnson, Carrie Martorana, Mary Tretter, Maxine Davis, John “Bubber” Stephenson, Jr., Cyrus Stephenson, Reeves Stephenson and Francis Stephenson. Annie is survived by her sons, Roger Barrier of Panama City, Rodney (Betty) Barrier of Pensacola and William (Tamara) Barrier, Jr. of Panama City; her former daughter-in-law, Suzanne Barrier of Enterprise, AL; her grandchildren, Mike, Rebecca, Jenny, Kalli, Dale, Sawyer, Savannah and Rick Porter and her thirteen great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Saturday from 6-8 pm at the Parker United Methodist Church where funeral services will take place 2pm Sunday. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
