Tribute

Audrey Moses Rubin, age 98, passed peacefully on March 29 in Panama City Beach. She was born on October 25,1922 in Athens, Tennessee to parents Clarence and Allie Moses. Audrey was the first of her family to attain higher education, a nursing degree from Baroness Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga in 1944. It was there that she met the love of her life, Saul Rubin, who was completing his medical residency at Erlanger. They married on January 25, 1945 and traveled to several cities as Saul completed his training in the Army Medical Corps. Following the end of World War II, Audrey and Saul settled in Lexington, Kentucky and raised their five children there. Audrey was a devoted wife and mother, and an active member of the Temple Adath Israel Sisterhood, Hadassah, and the temple choir. She enjoyed antiquing, knitting and needlework, was an avid Mah Jongg player, and traveled with friends to Israel, Thailand, and Denmark. She shared Saul's love for Kentucky football and basketball, and Cincinnati Reds baseball. In 1989, Audrey and Saul retired to Panama City Beach, where they volunteered with the American Red Cross and joyfully hosted many friends and family for visits. Following Saul's passing in 2009, Audrey was cared for in her home by her devoted son, Mark, until July of 2020 when she moved to Charter Senior Living in Panama City Beach.

Audrey is survived by her five children: Louis, of Lexington, KY; Mark, of Panama City Beach; David, of Suwanee, GA; Deborah, of Duluth, GA, and Sandra Kay Kinney, of Doylestown, PA; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. "Mimi" will be greatly missed by all.
