Betty Elizabeth Rowland, 85, of Howard Creek, passed away January 9, 2019 at Bay Medical. Betty was born July 19, 1933 in Linden, AL to Chris and Montier (Lambert) Ray and moved to Panama City in 1959 coming from Selma, AL. Betty was a very devoted and active member of VFW Post #10069 in Port St. Joe, Am Vets Callaway Post and Order of The Moose, Panama City. She was also a volunteer with Howard Creek Meals on Wheels and a 30-year weather watcher for Channel 13 News. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family at the El Governor Hotel of Mexico Beach. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Joe P. Rowland, Sr., and Aubrey Donaldson as well as a son, James Larry Smith; a step-son, Tommy Rowland and her siblings, James, Cohen, Bonnie and Caroline. Betty is survived by her children, Bobby (Lynn Davis) Reedy of Panama City Beach, Cathy (Cecil) Reedy Smith of Selma, AL, Scotty (Debbie Moseley) Allcox of Panama City and Joe (Susan Gay) Rowland, Jr. of Howard Creek; step-daughters, Shelby & Beverly. She is also survived by her siblings, Tommy, Chris, Jerry, Perry, Lila and Louise; her grandchildren, Jessica, Gabe, Tabitha, Sam, Josh, Blake, Bailey, Michael, Adam, Landon and Maghen; her great-grandson, Tristan and two special friends Jerry and Veda. Friends will be received 10-11 am Monday at the Forest Park United Methodist Church. Graveside funeral services will take place that morning at 11:30 am at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
