Bobbie L Russell

Bobbie Lee Russell, loving father and grandfather, passed away early on the morning of March 20, 2019. He was 85 years old.

Bobbie was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Jean.

He is survived by 2 children, Allen Shane Russell and Starr Renee Bond; 2 grandchildren, Robert Alexander Snow and Ashley Jade Warne; and 2 great-grandchildren, Brianna McKenzie Warne and Scarlett Leigh Russell.

Bobbie, or Bob, as he was known to just about everyone who knew him, was born on Nov 30, 1933 in a small South Carolina town to Robert Carson “Pop” Russell and Lula Bell Deal. He grew up in Kannapolis, NC, where he met, and eventually, married his future wife, Barbara Jean Weaver. They married in June of 1957; that same year, Bobbie joined the United States Air Force, and he and Barbara enjoyed a fulfilling career, traveling the world together and making lifelong friends. TSGT Bobbie “Russ” Russell retired from military service in 1974. His military career spanned a 4 year enlistment in the United States Navy and 16 years in the USAF.
Bobbie had a passion for life, a great love for his family, and a deep and abiding faith in his Heavenly Father. He was known for his generous spirit, quick wit, and infectious smile. Many who knew him commented on his ability to talk to anyone and how he had a way of making those around him feel comfortable.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Joey Smith officiating.. Family will receive friends 12:00 P.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Chapel of Love Mausoleum.
