Tribute

Bonice Dai Sanders (Bonnie)

Bonnie, the hat lady, was born April 4, 1925 in Jefferson County, Nebraska. She has passed to her heavenly home on October 27,2018. She married Robert (Bob) Sanders in 1945. Being an Air Force family, she lived in many states, including Alaska before it was a state, Bonnie spent 4 years in Japan where she became interested in oil painting, flower arranging, cake decorating, and knitting using her Japanese knitting machine. The family transferred to Tyndall in 1967 where she learned the art of stained glass. Bonnie has sewn, knitted, and crocheted since her youth, but in 2005 she became a quilter making quilts for all her children and many of her grandchildren. She loved the quilting ladies from Highland Park Baptist church. In 2013, Bonnie moved to Mathison Retirement Center where she made many new friends. She has always loved hats, but at Mathison she began wearing her fancy hats every day, often decorating them herself.
Bonnie was proceeded in death by her parents, Albertine Blackhart and Mike Riddle, and her husband Bob Sanders. She is survived by her four children, Ronnie Peralta (Jesse), Tom Sanders (Barbara), Sandi King (Mickey), and Jess Sanders (Joanna) as well as 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held, Friday, November 2, 2018, 2:00 PM, in the fellowship hall at City Church at Northside, 530 Airport Road. Bonnie has asked us all to rejoice at her going home to be with her Lord, so this will be a true celebration as she requested. The celebration will be led by Luther Standford and Adam Burnett of City Church.
A special thank you to Susie Bunch, Selina Trice, and Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care through this time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Bonnie to City Church, 530 Airport Road 32405 as they rebuild after the hurricane, or to Emerald Coast Hospice 421 Oak Ave 32401.
