Tribute

CARL EUGENE ELMORE

Carl Eugene Elmore, age 68, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of Jesus, on Friday, November 13, 2020, at his home in Panama City, Florida.  Carl was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico on December 19, 1951, to Urania Sanchez Elmore and Carl Carlton Elmore.  Carl passed away due to complications from COVID-19.

Carl was preceded in death by his father, Carl, and his mother, Urania, and his younger brother, James Elmore.  Carl was married to Celestia Jernigan and from this union, was born David Elmore and Kimberly Elmore. Carl will live on in the loving memory of his son, David Elmore, of Panama City; his daughter, Kimberly Elmore Guice (George) of Jacksonville, North Carolina; his grandsons, Blake Guice and Tyler Guice of Jacksonville, North Carolina; his granddaughter Katelin Guice McKeen (Tyler) of Jacksonville, North Carolina who are expecting their first child, Carl's first great grandchild; his sister, Terry Goodwin (Johnny) of Panama City, Florida, his brother Bobby Elmore (Pam) of Panama City; and his sister, Missy Lewis (Jeff) of Tallahassee, Florida.  Carl left behind several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Carl was an employee of Gulf Coast Electric Cooperative in Southport, Florida when he passed.  He began working for the co-op in 1974 and loved the work that he did.  He had several positions with the company over his almost 50 year career, but the most exciting was his time as a lineman.  In 1997 Carl was involved in an accident where he was electrocuted, and God answered his prayer and he lived to tell all about it.  He recovered quickly and returned to work as a lineman for a short time before moving into the engineering department and eventually fell in love with GIS Mapping.  Carl was also a reserve deputy for the Bay County Sheriff's Department for 25 years.  He enjoyed riding the Saturday night midnight shift and his children loved hearing all the stories of his calls throughout the years.

While Carl is no longer here on Earth with us, he will forever live on in our hearts and in the blood of his children, grandchildren, great-grandchild, and beyond.  His work here is done, and he can rest eternally with his Savior.  We will miss you every single day, but we know that we will meet again.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, November 20th, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home at 11am.  Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until service time at 11. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Carl's memory to his beloved church, Fellowship Baptist Church, 2501 Michigan Avenue, Panama City, Florida.
