Charlie Ray Lewis, age 80, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022 in Panama City, Florida. He was born in Hartford, Alabama to the late Leamon William and Jewel (Bradshaw) Lewis and his stepmother, Frances Lewis. He joined the Navy as a Beachmasters Unit radio operator, right out of high school. After an honorable discharge, he worked for a TV repair shop and eventually owned his own company called CID (Charlie in Debt) Electronics. Charlie worked offshore on the oil rigs while he built his house and he retired from Alltel. Charlie was a ham operator since 1960 and his handle was KF4JR. He leaves his cherished memories to his loving wife, Juanita Carolyn Lewis; son, David Lewis (Tonjia); daughter, Debra Lewis Akers (Kirk); Marvin Lewis and Colleen Ruckman; grandchildren: Amy Taylor (Marc), Joe Lewis, Ben Lewis (Brittany), Tim Akers, Sarah Arnold (Michael Huber), Ciera Ruckman, and Tori Ruckman; great-grandchildren: Christian Lewis, Keira Lewis, Oliver Huber, Jameson Lee, Theodore Ray Huber; paternal aunts: Juanita Nipper, Mernett White, Barbara Hicks, Helen Mercer, Patricia Rosier and Mary Jo Scurlock; maternal uncles: James & Calvin Bradshaw; maternal aunts: Audrey Fortune and Mattie Lou Baxter.
Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow the services at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with honors.
