Cherry Lee Hood Creekmore, age 86 of Panama City Beach, FL, formerly of Birmingham, AL, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019. She was born to the late Isaac and Lena Hood in Bessemer, AL, on February 8, 1933. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 42 years, Thomas Creekmore, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Gibbons (Neil), son, David Squires (Brenda), Tom Creekmore (Mary), Hill Creekmore, Gail Sheppard (Kevin), granddaughters Emily Gibbons, Caroline Gibbons, Tiffany Clinage (Corbin), Melissa Phillips, Jessica Payne (Jesse), Julie Mahoney (Bryan), Alex, grandsons Josh and Dalton, multiple great grandchildren, and her sister, Carolyn (Joe) Allcorn.
Cherry graduated from McAdory High School in 1951 and from Wheeler Business College in 1953. She was a prominent real estate broker in Panama City where she became a multi-million dollar producer. Cherry served on committees at Bay County Association of Realtors and Florida Association of Realtors where she was elected District IX Vice President. She was a member and served on the Board of Directors in various organizations such as Kiwanis, United Way, Women's Civic Club of Panama City Beach, Bay County Chamber of Commerce, Panama City Beaches Chamber of Commerce, City of Panama City Beach Building Committee, and Panama City Beach Library Foundation.
Cherry enjoyed life to its fullest, never knew a stranger, and treasured her family and friends.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, October 3, at 11:00 am, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with visitation from 10:00 until 11:00.
