Tribute

Christian Philip Frederick Werle, 77 of Panama City, passed away September 8, 2018 at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center. Christian was born January 1, 1941 in Washington, DC to Otto P. and Hermine (Hachenberg) and moved to Panama City in 1962. He was a United States Air Force Veteran who served as a member of the test squadron at Tyndall Air Force Base from 1962-1965. Christian was an electrical engineer for most of his career and retired from the Naval Coastal Systems Center with over 30 years of service. He was an adjunct professor with Gulf Coast State College Math Department. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He taught Sunday School over 45 years. Christian is preceded in death by his parents as well as a sister, Christel MacLeod. He was united in marriage on March 14, 1964 to his wife Barbara Diane who resides in Panama City. He is also survived by his children, Jonathon of Lawrenceville, GA, Deborah (Jeff) Barkman of Cleveland, MS, Joy (Jody) Bailey of New Orleans and Sharon (Heath) Sarty of Plano, TX; his brother, Benjamin of San Luis Obispo, CA, Mimi Stricklin of Morristown, TN and Ruth James of Mosheim, TN and his grandchildren, Charles, Zachary, Dylan, Mecka, River, J. Lawrence and Jaxon. Friends will be received Tuesday from 5-8 pm at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home where funeral services will take place 10am Wednesday. Interment will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
