EDWINA LARSON JOHNSON
1932-2018
Edwina Larson Johnson was born in Gainesville, FL on September 24, 1932. She grew up in Tallahassee where her father, J. Edwin Larson, was State Treasurer and Insurance Commissioner for the State of Florida for 24 years. Graduating from Leon High School, Edwina worked for the Florida Highway Patrol General Headquarters in Tallahassee. Edwina and Dana L. Johnson were married in Tallahassee in 1956. They moved to Panama City Beach where Dana was stationed at Tyndall AFB. They traveled with the Air Force for 20 years, being stationed in Michigan, Alabama, Germany, Georgia, South Carolina and Idaho.
Edwina and Dana had two sons, Danny and Johnny Johnson. Edwina adored her children, and found joy in being their mother. After a 20 year career in the Air Force, Dana retired and returned to Panama City Beach with Edwina and their two sons. Together they opened Dana's Lock Service, where Edwina worked side by side with her husband and sons for 40 years. Edwina was a member of the Panama City Beach Womens Club, Eastern Star, White Shriners and the Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church.
Edwina was preceded in death by her son, Danny Johnson; sisters Betty Jane Fischer and Wilda Lundrigan and her parents, J. Edwin Larson and Clara Larson. Survivors include her husband Dana L. Johnson; son, Johnny Johnson; nephews, Bobby Fischer and Eric and Edwin Clowers; niece, Clara Clowers; and numerous cousins and friends.
Edwina's ashes will be buried in Tallahassee at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to animal rescue and shelters in you community in the name of Edwina Johnson. The family would like to thank Bright Star Home Care and Covenant Hospice of Panama City. Friends will be received at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Sunday afternoon, August 5, 2018, between 2:00 and 3:00 PM when Memorial Services will begin.
