Donald Leo Thiel

Donald Leo Thiel aka "Hurricane Donnie" of South Bend Indiana, passed away on January 20th, 2021. He was 69 years old.
He attended Tri State university in Angola, Indiana where he studied computer science. He relocated to LosAngeles where he had a sucessful career in telecommunications. Later in life he became a campground owner on the Gulf of Mexico in Florida along with his wife. He retired in 2003 and resumed his musical gift. He was an amazing saxaphone player and all around general musician. Music was his passion. Don played at various venues around the beach in Port. St. Joe and also with a couple of bands in South Bend, Indiana. Don was a dual cancer survivor since 2010 and was an inspiration to so many. He will be dearly missed by all of his friends and family.
Don is survived by his mother Elois(Russell)Thiel, his sister Pattie Majcher and his wife of 40 years, Rhonda ( Allen);2 sons, James Kennedy and Michael Kennedy both of Port st joe, and daughter Candice (Kennedy) Barrett of Youngstown Florida. Grandchildren include Brenton Barrett, Jessa Barrett, Michael Kennedy Jr., Emma Kennedy and Chance Kennedy.
Don had several cousisns; Randy, Craig, Vickie Val and Gail.
Per Don's wishes there will be no personal services.
In leiu of flowers, the family would appreciate any donations be made in his name to The American Cancer Society, Samaritans Purse or Salvation Army.
