DORIS ELAINE SCHNEIDER SMITH
Doris Elaine Schneider Smith, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2021, in Panama City, Florida. A devout Christian her entire life, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of fifty-six years, James Whitfield Smith, MSGT (retired), United States Air Force.
Born on May 27, 1929, in Pine Hill, Alabama, to Annie Inez Morgan and Howard Demetrius Schneider, she is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Loraine Schneider Thornton [Don], and Joann Davis Sealy [Bob]; her five children, James Whitfield Smith, Jr. [Linda]; Raymond Howard Smith [Pam]; Thomas Rodgers Smith; Sylvia Inez Smith Howell; and Samuel Eugene Smith [Yvette].
She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Grandchildren: Jim Smith [Tracy]; Brian Smith [Ashley]; Raymond McVay [Debra]; Virginia Robison [Keith]; Charlotte St. Denis [Shayne]; Joshua Smith; Michael Peterson [Laura]; Ashley Peterson [Jamie]; Dawn Andrus [Sam]; Matthew Howell; Adam Howell; Dylan Smith; and Gavin Smith.
Great grandchildren: Evelyn Smith; Lydia Rae McVay; Victor McVay; Alexander McVay; Mary Grace Robison; Eliza Peterson; Maggie Peterson; and Arianna Andrus.
Doris Smith was a friend to all who had the pleasure to have known her, and was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. She is remembered by her family for her unconditional love and support, and for her long life of dedication to family and to God. May she rest in peace and eternal happiness as she is re-united with her loving husband, James, and all those friends and family who have gone before her.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Monday, January 25, 2021, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services.
