Eddie Carl Greer, age 84, of Panama City went home to be with the Lord Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at his home, after a long battle with cancer. His family was by his side. 

He was born May 20, 1937, in Slocomb, AL. The family later moved to Panama City, FL, where he played football for Jinks Junior High in 1953 and Everitt Middle School in 1954. He joined the Air Force in 1955 and received his GED while in service. He married Martha Jane Riley on February 24, 1961, in Donaldsonville, GA.

 While enlisted in the military, he served overseas in France, Thailand, and Korea and he served stateside at McConnell AFB Wichita, KS, Craig AFB Selma, AL, and Eglin  AFB,  Fort Walton Beach, FL. During his military career, he and Martha raised two children, Karren Jean and Richard Carl (Rickey). He acquired his Private Pilot's License, Commercial Pilot's License, and AP License in the late 60’s.

In 1976, he retired with the rank of Technical Sergeant in the Operations Maintenance Squadron and the family settled in Panama City, once again. Eddie went to work for a short time at Cook Whitehead Ford and then started a twenty-two-year career at the paper mill. He and Martha enjoyed traveling and were founding members of the local Gold Wing Road Riders Club.  He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and watching airshows whenever he possibly could, as well as spending time with his family.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Moody Greer and Eddie Bell Granger Greer, two sisters, Molly Susan Greer and Patricia Ann Greer.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Martha Riley Greer, daughter Karen (Jeff) Tolodxi, son Richard (Kimberly) Greer, three grandchildren Rebekah (Billy) Dennison, Joshua Tolodxi, and Megan Greer, one great-granddaughter, Braelyn Dennison, a brother Lawrence (Sami) Greer, sister, Linda (Allen) Barnes, cousins, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to First Assembly of God, Panama City, Florida, or Covenant Hospice.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
