Master Sergeant, Elmer Nixon Persinger, USAF, ret., 73 of Panama City, passed away March 21, 2019 at Bay Medical Center. Elmer was born September 6, 1945 in Beckley, W VA to Elmer Curtis and Mabel (Floyd) Persinger and moved to Panama City in 1979 coming from Germany. Elmer was a true patriot having served his country in the United States Army and then the United States Air Force of which he retired with over twenty-two years of service having served in Viet Nam and then fully retired with the Army Corp of Engineers. Elmer was united in marriage in 1974 to his wife, Brigitte nee Gugutzer who preceded him in death in 2002. Elmer is also preceded in death by his sons, Michael and Daniel Persinger and his brothers, Virgil and Jack Persinger. He is survived by his children, Sheila (Joseph Calo) Persinger of Panama City, William Persinger of Panama City, Elmer (Amy) Persinger of Panama City and Binky Persinger of Panama City; his sisters, Peggy Cochran and Kay Dehardt and his twenty-two grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Memorial services will take place 10 am Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Military Honors will be performed by Eglin Air Force Base Honor Guard.
