Elsie Inez Stephens Pitts, born on January 01, 1929 in Suwanee, GA., passed from this life into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, August 02, 2022. She was one of twelve children born to her parents Cline and Lester Bullock Stephens. She was married 66 years to her late husband, William Mose Pitts Jr., before his passing in 2012. Together they owned and operated Bill’s Grocery and Gas Station on Highway 231 for many years then Pitts Sand Company for twenty six years before their retirement. Coming from such a large family her home was often the gathering spot for family, friends, missionaries, singing groups and ministers to come together and enjoy a meal and visit. She was called Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sis. Elsie, Aunt Elsie, Sis. and other terms of endearment. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She sang His praises and taught all ages in Sunday School for over 68 years at Bayou George Assembly of God. She was the Women’s Ministries leader in her local church and served for several years as the sectional Women’s Ministries Representative. Her most enjoyable time in life, she said, was teaching God’s Word.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her son Donald Pitts and daughter in law Maxine Pitts, grandson Jeffrey Riley, her brothers J.C. Stephens, Roy Stephens, Lamar Stephens, Howard Stephens and Billy Stephens and one sister Irene Stephens Everett. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Mike Pitts (Maureen), Dennis Pitts (Susan) and daughters Deborah Pitts Riley (Tommy) and Delora Pitts Ray (Jay). She was blessed with 18 grandchildren, Keith Pitts, Amy Pitts Ward (Rusty), Malachi Pitts (Courtney), Skyler Pitts (Julie), Tammy Pitts Clements (Jeff), Stephanie Pitts, Chris Pitts (Michelle), Jamie Pitts Clark (Mike), Ryan Pitts, Kelly Pitts, Michael Kelley (Ginger), Scott Kelley (Robin), Brittni Ray Ridgeway (Tommy), Jordan Ray, William Ray (Whitney), Stephen Ray (Cheyanne), and Savanna Ray, 24 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Surviving siblings include her brother Arnold Stephens (Kathy), and sisters Martha Pitts, Carolyn Cantrell (Vester), Betty Faye Hamby and sister in law Jean Stephens

Viewing services will be held on Friday August 5, 2022 from 6-8 pm at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at Central Pentecostal Ministries on Saturday August 6, 2022 at 1:00 pm. with Rev. Tommy Moore and Rev. Carolyn Shumway officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens
