Evelyn Overman passed away in Dallas, TX on May 5, 2019. She had moved to Dallas to be with her daughter after Hurricane Michael destroyed her home. She is survived by 5 children: Cheryl, Lee, Mark, Chris and Bruce Overman and by 7 grandchildren: January Curry, Stephanie, Lindsey, David, Michael, James and Sam Overman. Her husband, Dr. Robert Overman and brothers and sister predeceased her. She was born in Bonifay, FL on April 20, 1926. She came from a family who were early settlers of the Panhandle (1800’s). She had lived in Panama City, FL for 61 years. She enjoyed playing bridge and being with friends at social meetings. She never met a stranger and had many close friendships including her roommates from FSU whom she traveled with to the mountains in Tennessee for over 20 years. She worked for the State of Florida for 25years as a social worker and raised 3 boys on her own after her husband died. She was a devoted wife and loving mother, strong as a longshoreman but also a genteel Southern Belle. She attended Church of Christ at Jenks Ave. In lieu of flowers please donate to the church’s hurricane relief fund. A Celebration of Life will be held at Kent-Forest Funeral Home June 15 at 4pm. Reception to follow. Burial will happen Jun 14th at 2pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
