Tribute

Frank Aloysius “’tis himself” Hawk, faithful son, devoted husband, and loving father, passed away on January 15, 2021, in Panama City Beach, Florida, after a long illness.
Frank was born in Forty Fort, Pennsylvania, on September 10, 1931, the son of Frank and Susan (Cotter) Hawk, and graduated from Forty Fort High School. He married Ann (Conwell) on July 12, 1951. She survives.
Frank began working for the Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company in Cleveland in the early 1950’s. In 1956, when Murray Ohio moved its factory to Lawrenceburg, Tn, Frank and family moved with the company. While living in Lawrenceburg, Frank was active in the Lion’s Club, Elks Club, and Sacred Heart Church’s Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed a successful career at Murray Ohio before moving back to the Cleveland area in 1975 and working for the Cleveland Range Company. After retirement, Frank stayed busy with church and volunteer activities in the Panama City Beach area. He and Ann traveled extensively, including several trips around the world and multiple cruises.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Marie (Art) Raab, Ann (Jim) Monahan, and Margaret “Mag” (Tony) Mantione, and brother Jim (Lorraine) Hawk. In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by his sister, Maureen (Lyons) Martinsky, and his children, Maurie (Allen) Luna, Patrice (Steve) Mattox, Mary (Randy) Holland, Beth (David) Dehner, Fran (Bruce) Barnes, Christopher (Mary) Hawk, and Susan (Jeff) Demeter. He was affectionately known as “Da” to his 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Frank was known for his wonderful singing voice. He once convinced a Chicago piano bar’s manager that he was Robert Goulet‘s brother, earning himself a free meal for himself and his group after singing several songs at the piano. He knew every joke there was and could drop a slow-pitch softball into the strike zone every time. If you had a problem which stymied most, Frank could solve it.
A funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, PCB, at 10 am on Tuesday, January 19. Arrangements are being handled by Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Frank’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association. As Frank would say, “That would be fan-damn-tastic!”
