LCDR FRANK WATFORD, USN, ret.
LCDR Frank Watford, USN, ret., age 84 of Panama City Beach, passed away Monday, June 10, 2019. Frank was born in Houston County, AL, and moved to Panama City Beach from Dothan 23 years ago. He retired at the rank of Lt. Commander after 21 years in the US Navy Submarine Service, serving on the first nuclear submarine, the George Washington. After his military career, he worked at Farley Nuclear Plant for 15 years. Frank was a member of the Fleet Reserve, AmVets, American Legion, VFW, Masonic Lodge, Shaddai Shriners, and the US Navy Submariners' Sea Wolf Chapter. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and traveling.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ramona Graff Watford; their children, Joel Watford (Rhonda) of Pascagoula, MS; Randy Watford (Rita) of Dothan, AL; Scott Watford of Pascagoula, MS; Richard Boswell (Melissa) of Bedford, TX; Gary Boswell (Rochelle) of Tappahannock, VA; Darla Solomon of Lakeland, FL and Angela Boswell of West Palm Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2019, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Inurnment with naval honors will be held later at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Frank's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, www.alzfdn.org.
