Gertrude Bridges Downs

Gertrude Bridges Downs, 69 of Panama City went home to be with her Lord Sunday November 11, 2018 at her home. Gertrude was born December 29, 1948 in Panama City to Fred & Betty Bridges. She is a Bay High School Graduate, Class of ’66. She continued her education at Massey Business College and graduated as a legal secretary and became employed with Russell Bowers Law Firm. She continued her education and graduated from Pensacola Junior College Class of ’73 with a A.A. Degree in music. Gertrude was also a professional musician from Florida to Virginia from 1974-1988. In 1990 Gertrude opened Gulf Bay Court Reporting and maintained this business until her death. Gertrude was united in marriage on July 13, 1968 to her husband, Robin who resides in Panama City. She is also survived by her sister, Mary (Ken) Barrett and her brother, Joe (Traci) Bridges. Memorial services will be held 12:00 noon CST (1:00 pm EST) Sunday at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, 3449 Garrison Avenue, Port St. Joe, FL . In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Gertrude’s memory to anyone affected by Hurricane Michael. Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
