GLEN McADAMS
Glen McAdams of Lynn Haven, FL., passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 12. He was born July 21, 1922 and was 98 years of age. Glen enlisted in the Navy directly out of Cottondale (FL) High School in September of 1941. During his service in the Navy, he mostly served on the destroyer USS Mertz (DD691) in the Pacific during World War II. He was Honorably Discharged November 30, 1946, with the rank of Boatswain’s Mate First Class. After his military service he went to work for the Florida Forestry Service and retired from there in June of 1985.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife – Magdalene Gay McAdams, in 2017. They had been married 72 years. Glen is survived by his sister Lucile Sadler, and two brothers, George Olin McAdams and James Elwood McAdams. Glen and Magdalene are also survived by their only child – Glenda McAdams Rhinehart, and her husband Jerry, of Lynn Haven. They were so proud of their two granddaughters, and four grandchildren. They are Kaye Rhinehart, and her son Arlo Harden, of Tallahassee, and Lee Hall, her husband Tim, and Lillian Hall, Rory Hall, and Fiona Hall, of Monticello, FL. Glen and Magdalene were longtime members of Highland Park Baptist Church.A service will be held for Glen at Kent-Forest Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 17 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Flowers or condolences can be sent to Kent-Forest Funeral Home.
