Tribute

Gloria “Go” Caballero Nichols, 92, was called to Heaven on April 29, 2022, in Panama City, Florida. She was born February 12, 1930, in Cabanatuan, Philippines and grew up in Manila with her family. Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Gavino Romeroso and Margarita Caballero, and her five sisters (Natividad, Consuelo, Belen, Estrella, and Bella) and three brothers (Jose, Marcos, and Gavino Jr.)
After graduating high school, Gloria was employed in a variety of occupations to include working as a secretary for a Congressman in the Philippines and a laboratory assistant at San Lazaro Hospital. She was a waitress in a canteen near the base hospital in Clark Air Force Base where she met SSgt Linwood “Lin” W. Nichols. They were married on December 28, 1964, and moved to Grissom AFB, Indiana. After Linwood retired from the U.S. Air Force, they moved to Panama City, Florida where Gloria worked as a cashier at Bungalow Liquors for almost 20 years.
Gloria loved to travel the world, work in her garden, read books, visit with family at the kitchen table and make her famous banana bread. Gloria’s favorite saying has become the family slogan; she would always tell each of her family members to “Love Each Other More” and it was her signature sign-off when saying goodbye on the phone or in person.
Gloria was the matriarch of the family that loved and adored her. She is preceded in death by two of her children MSgt Fernando “Tony” Cruz (USAF Ret) and Christine “Tina” Callahan. She is survived by her husband of over 57 years, SSgt Linwood “Lin” W. Nichols (USAF Ret); her children SGT Alberto “Dannie” Geronimo (US Army Ret) [wife Eileen], Linwood “Dewey” Nichols (Corporate Jet Captain) [wife Erin], daughter-in-law Nelia Cruz BSN [widow of Tony] , son-in-law SFC Timothy Callahan (US Army Ret) [widower of Tina/husband of Julia]; nine grandchildren SSgt Margarita “Joy/Jaycee” Cruz Galvez (USAF Ret), Kristina “Kris” Cruz Smith [husband Rob], Meileen Geronimo Brown [husband Tony], Marlon Geronimo, Michael Callahan [wife Christina], Brian Callahan, Chloe Nichols Portman [husband Ryan], Peyton Nichols and Ava Nichols; and great-grandchildren Jada Cruz Galvez, Daniel Geronimo Brown, Meilani Geronimo Brown, Sonya Callahan Bainbridge, and Easton Nichols.
