Tribute

Elaine Adkins passed away peacefully at her home on February 14, 2024.  She was born on January 22, 1931, and was 93 years old.  Elaine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and loyal friend.  She moved to Panama City, FL from Mobile, AL in 1967 with her husband, Earl, and their four children.  She worked at Tyndall Air Force Base in Personnel and at the NCO academy for 31 years. The most important things to Elaine were family, her faith and her church.   She enjoyed nothing more than having family together to enjoy a meal and to spend time together. Weekly Sunday lunch with family was a tradition in her home.  She was also deeply devoted to her church and church family.  she rarely met anyone that she did not invite to church, and she never met a stranger. She loved the Lord and enjoyed serving in many different roles at her church over the course of her life.  Elaine enjoyed taking family vacations and traveling in general; she was always ready for an adventure and especially enjoyed her annual “girls’ trip” with her daughters.  Elaine was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Charles Earl Adkins, her only son, Kelvin Earl Adkins, and her granddaughter, Kristen L. McDougald.  She is survived by daughters Kathy Soto (Alfred Soto), Karen Williams (Eddie Williams), and Kimberly Bodine (Robert Bodine).  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shawn Williams, David Soto (Nicky Soto), Ryan Shoemaker, and Noah Shoemaker; great grand children, Lily Soto, Kiley Soto, Bryden Nordstrom, Mason and Makayla Calhoun and Lucy Magner.   The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support over the past several months and especially wants to thank the nurses and Pastor Craig and Dorcas from Emerald Coast Hospice as well as Rosalind, Tangie and Eddie Mae with Rose Heart Home Care and Cheryl for taking such great care of our mother.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Parker Global Methodist Church with Dr. Alex Palomaria officiating. The family will receive guests from 10:00 am until time of service.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Parker Global Methodist Church or Emerald Coast Hospice in Elaine’s memory.
