JAMES ARCHIBALD CAMERON
James A. "Jim" Cameron, 84, of Panama City, passed away January 25, 2019. Jim was born in Boston, MA, and lived in Bay County most of his life. He retired as a MSGT after 20 years as a draftsman in the US Air Force. After his retirement, Jim went on to earn a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of West Florida. He also worked as a CAD Operator at Wellstream and in Civil Service. Jim enjoyed bingo, bowling, poker at Ebro, eating out, and trips to Biloxi with his wife. He was the former treasurer of the local Democratic Executive Committee and had served as the chairman of the March of Dimes. Jim was a die hard Boston Red Sox Fan. He was preceded in death by his daughters, Christine Tripp and Catherine Johnson, a sister, Annabelle Cameron; and a son-in-law, Michael McGinley.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Doris Perna Cameron; his daughters, Deborah McGinley of Panama City and Kimberly Murphy( Phillip) of Panama City Beach; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; his brother and sisters-in-law, Carmiah Perna Bryant (Paul), Jeremiah Perna (Elke) and Debra Perna Barron (Toney); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with military honors offered by the US Air Force will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the Chapel of Love Mausoleum, Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at 11;00.
