James T. “Tim” Steele died peacefully at home in Lynn Haven, on October 23, 2020. Born in Clarksville, TN, Tim lived most of his life in DeFuniak Springs and Lynn Haven, FL. He was a graduate of The University of West Florida.
Tim loved his family, playing guitar, listening to music, old movies and antiques.
Tim worked at WJHG-TV for over 30 years, meeting many community members through the “old shows” Daybusters and Televisit. The most exciting time of his life was when in the early 80’s he got to fly with the Navy’s Blue Angels through WJHG-TV.
Tim also directed the televised service at First Methodist Church in Panama City for many years.
Tim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara Steele, sons Jeremy Steele of Los Altos, CA, and Joshua Steele of Lynn Haven, FL, and five grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Andrew, Mary and Oscar, all of whom made him very proud. He has two siblings, Becky and Ricky of DeFuniak Springs. His parents, Don and Mary Steele preceded him in death.
A memorial service will be held at Porter Park, in Lynn Haven on Wednesday, October 28, at 2:00 PM. Steve Beck will officiate.
