Tribute

The family and loved ones of Mrs. Janice “Jan” Ladd (81) of Panama City, Florida is deeply saddened to announce the passing of their beloved wife, mother, aunt, and Nana on January 12, 2022, at Bay Medical Center.

Jan was born July 9, 1940, in the prime of Oklahoma summer and she would always embody a spunky and fiery spirit that could never be tamed. In Stillwater, Oklahoma she loved her Oklahoma State Cowboys and worked for the university, and in other industries throughout her life. It was here, in this sleepy town, she would find the love of her life, Jerry Ladd, who would become her husband. Later, she and Jerry would have three kids: Jeniece, Jennifer, and Jeffrey “Jeff” Ladd.
When Jerry began serving in the air force, Jan stayed in Stillwater with the beginning of their family as their daughters, Jeniece and Jennifer, were welcomed into the world. She often shared how much she loved spending time with her sister and her husband, Phyllis and Kenneth Jardot, and their kids - Sandra, Cindy, and Tommy. Oklahoma was always distant by measurement, but never far in Jan’s heart.

Jan’s life was full of adventure, and as Jerry was stationed at different places in the country (Maine, Texas, and Florida) – she was always by his side. While in Maine, they would welcome their third child and son, Jeff, into the world.

Towards the end of Jerry’s service, he was stationed in Panama City, FL where she became involved with the After School Program, Bay Base at Lynn Haven Elementary School. All the kids at Bay Base were her treasures, and the memories she made with every one of them were priceless.
Jan is remembered for the dedication toward her job and the love for her family, Disney World, and Elvis. In her spare time, her craft for making pies, homemade chicken noodle soup, and fleece tie blankets were unmatched.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, John and Inez Sharpton, her sisters, Phyllis Jardot, Sherry Ritter, and Barbra Baldwin, and her brothers, Earnest, and Jerry Sharpton. Jan is survived by her loving and dedicated husband, and her three children. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Crisan, Marshall Sowell, Michaela Crisan, and Justine Sowell. With her roots starting in Stillwater, Oklahoma, her legacy lives on through Sandra and Robert Schrock and their kids, Dianna Eddie (Marlon), Robbie Schrock (Janna), Kathryn Schrock (fiancé, Ray McCranie), and David Schrock (Jennifer), and all of their children; as well as Marcus Jardot, Cindy and Mike Filson and their extensive family.
