After enjoying more than 100 years of life, Janie Lou Ayers Redd, was called home by her Lord and Savior on July, 28. Janie was born November 2nd, 1920 to George and Lucy Ayers in Calhoun County, Florida. She was pre-deceased by Lonnie Redd, her husband of more than 62 years and by her grandson, Matthew Redd. She is survived by her children, Evelyn Harrell (Perry), Dot Knuckles (Gary), Mitchell Redd (Marilyn), Kenneth Redd (Margarita) and Steven Redd. She was the proud grandmother to ten grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She cherished her many nieces and nephews and held fast her extended family. She was a devoted mother and talented homemaker. She was widely noted for her skills as a seamstress as she created finely tailored school clothes for all of her children. Her homemade biscuits were famous far and wide. She and Lonnie always kept a vegetable garden and their favorite pastime was fishing. They were faithful members of Westview Baptist and St. Andrew Baptist churches. Friends will be received Sunday from 1-2 pm at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home where funeral services will take place that afternoon at 2 pm. Interment will take place privately Monday 8/2 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. For your convenience and for those who cannot attend, the funeral service will be live streamed.
