Jerry A. Simmons, 79, of Panama City, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018.
He was born the son of Roy and Mary Simmons on March 7, 1939 in Pensacola, Florida.
MSgt. Simmons, a Vietnam Veteran, retired from the United States Marine Corps after 20 years of faithful service. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid fisherman and loved to cook. He always said, “carry on Marine, Oorah!”
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Edward, Russell, Robert and Eugene Simmons, his son, Ricky Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Simmons, children, Dale Simmons (Liz), and Belinda Noda (Joe), step-children, Steve Hobbs, Donnie Hobbs and Laura Scott (Jon), eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two brothers, Aubrey and Mike Simmons, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Ed Scott and Pastor Chad Hixson officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday, March 19, 2018 at the funeral home.
