Joe Akers Quick Jr., of Panama City, FL, passed away on June 11, 2022. He was born to Joe Sr. and Mary Elizabeth on October 27, 1945 in Denver, CO. Joe will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Joe graduated from Mariana High School and moved on to Florida State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Marine Biology. He attended University of South Florida for his Master’s Degree in Botany and then Texas A&M for a degree in Engineering. He continued to take courses throughout his life in his never ending quest for knowledge. His career consisted of marine biology, chemical engineering, and professional occupational health. He authored several books and holds many patents.

What brought him joy in life was sharing his vast knowledge, from volunteering as a science presenter at a local schools, to teaching adult Sunday school classes, to tutoring his children and later, grandchildren. On his own time, he worked tirelessly in his extensive gardens, which held plenty of his carnivorous plants.

Joe is predeceased by his parents and brother, David. He is survived by his wife, Mary of 58 years, his daughter Angela Postma with her husband David, and his son Joe III with his wife Tracey and four grandchildren, Sarah, Rachel, Sam and Kelly.

His celebration of life will be with immediate family.
