John Henry “Whitey” Adams, 77, of Panama City, FL passed away June 2, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones.
He was born at home in Baldwin County, GA on November 17, 1943 to the late John Henry, Sr. and Evelyn Marie Adams.
On September 1, 1962 he married Gladys “Margo” Franzen. He was a member of Parkway Presbyterian Church.
John served in the Air Force for 27 years retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. It was during his stint in the Air Force where he received the nickname “Whitey.” After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the city of Callaway, working his way up from general laborer to the Public Works Director. Throughout his life he shared a love for his family and bass fishing and was an avid follower of the Atlanta Braves.
Whitey will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Margo, his children, John (Michelle) Adams, Kimberly (Michael) Schneider, and Alicia Harris, grandchildren: John Henry “A.J.” IV (Brittany) Adams, David (Abby) Schneider, Amanda (Tomas) Harris-Mitchell, Lydia (Nathan) Hawley, Matthew Harris, Aaron Schneider, Crystal (Roman) Herbert, Hannah Schneider, and great grandchildren: John Henry “Johnny” Adams V, Cole and Lily Schneider, as well as a brother, Bob Adams, and a sister, Dianne Anderson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Whitey was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Sr. and Evelyn; 3 siblings, Jeri Wilbanks, Ann Adams, and Daniel Adams; and 1 great grandchild, Peanut Schneider.
