Dennis Joy Murphy-Holder

Dennis Joy Murphy- Holder, 90, of Southport, Florida passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at her home.

Joy was born the daughter of Dennis James and Isabel Mariam Murphy on April 13, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Mrs. Holder graduated from the University of Alabama in 1954 and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. She served as an administrative assistant at the University of Florida, an administrative assistant with the Retail Association of Alabama. She went on to become a licensed real estate agent in Mexico Beach, Florida. Her greatest joys were her family, friends, gardening, genealogy, bird watching and Alabama football.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her twin sister, Patricia Gayle "Gay" Murphy- Russell and her husband, Herman.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, William Eldridge Holder, Jr., sons: David Holder and his wife, Linda of San Diego, CA, Jamie Holder and his wife, Julie of Imperial, MO, and Dan Holder and his wife, Suzanne of Panama City Beach. Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren; Amanda Rayls and Heather Beltran, Chris Holder and his wife, Michaella, Morgan Laude and her husband, Matthew and Kelsey Holder; great-grandchildren: Ben, Milena and Violette, Annora Laude Delilah Laude and Logan Holder; sister, Sharon Murphy Hill and husband, Farris and by many beloved extended family members and friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
