Tribute

Longtime Bay Point Resident, Karen Seubert, 81, died peacefully at home on Saturday, March 23, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was very active in the Bay Point Community. She and husband, Egon, moved to Baypoint in 1993 after a long, successful career as restauranteurs in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Being the social creature that she was, Karen jumped right into the BayPoint retirement lifestyle. She was an avid golfer and active in many of the clubs and activities around the community during her 30 years there.

Karen especially enjoyed all her many friends from the Bay Point Yacht Club, and the PCB Krewe of Dominque Youx . She was crowned the Queen of Krewe on it’s Silver Anniversary in 2011. It was definitely a highlight in her life. She will forever be remembered as the “Dancing Queen”.

Karen’s other passions in life included her family, her pets, traveling and her art.

Karen’s artwork hangs in many BayPoint homes today, and her “painted dolphin” graced the entrance to the Bay Point Yacht Club, pre-Hurricane Michael, for years. One of her most epic projects was helping to conceive and create the “giant flower float” that the Krewe still uses to this day during the Mardi Gras Parade.

Karen took great pleasure traveling the world with her husband, family and friends. From Brazil to Germany, New Zealand to Australia, Italy to Greece, and the many, many cruises in between…her life was filled with wondrous adventures.

Karen is survived by her husband of 45 years, Egon Seubert, her five Daughters, Lynne, Kim, Cathy, Linda and Brenda, her twin sister Kathy, six Grandchildren, Timothy, Josh, Whittney, Trevor, Asa and Derek and four Great-Grandchildren, Jade, Romeo, Rose and Casey.

Her “other” children (fur babies) include Sebastian, Buddy and Sadie, her dogs. Karen was a passionate lover of animals and all the pets she had in her lifetime enjoyed a very loving, happy life with her and Egon. The turtles crossing Bay Point Road found a true friend in Karen as well.

Services will be held at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church in Panama City at 2pm on Wednesday, April 3rd, with a reception to follow at Bar 72 at the Bay Point Golf Course
