Katherine “Kathy” Ann Stubbs passed away on July 20, 2022 surrounded by her loving daughter, sisters, brothers, and their families.
Kathy was born in Kittery, Maine on March 7, 1958 and moved to Panama City in 1981. She worked as Manager of a Jr Food Store for 12 years and a Customer Service Manager at Walmart for the next 25 years, until she began her battle with cancer.
Kathy was a dedicated employee and truly exemplified Jesus’ teachings in the Gospel of Matthew chapter 25: 34-40 on how we treat those in need.
‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’ Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
This was definitely Kathy’s calling, she did it so well, she was such a loving person and had a huge heart. During her time at Walmart, if any customer was at the checkout line and did not have enough to pay for their groceries, they never had to choose what to put back. If Kathy knew about it, she would always pay what was left. Kathy would help any stranger no matter where she encountered them and when it came to her family in need, she was always there ready and willing.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Cameron and father, Joe Mitchell.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Peggy Rund (Nick); her sisters, Linda Huffman (Eddie), Melissa Peterson (Mike); her brothers, Ed Mitchell (Dorene), Joe Mitchell (Cindy); grandchildren, Zander and Teagan; great-grandchild, Aubree; and several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Dominic Catholic Church Panama City, FL (3308 East 15th Street) at 10:00 AM Monday, July 25, 2022, with Rev. Michael Nixon officiating. The family will receive friends at St. Dominic prior to the Funeral Mass at 9am.
