Col. Louis (Lou) Lawrence Churchill, Ret. USAF May 1, 1928 – April 28, 2022 Lou Churchill, age 93, of Lynn Haven passed away on April 28, 2022. He was born in St. Petersburg, Fl. to Joseph and Beatrice Churchill. He is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Zoe Ragsdale, and his son, David Churchill. He is survived by his wife, Inge Churchill, and his son, Ben Churchill (wife Amy), and his daughter, Jennifer Green (husband Jeff). He had four grandchildren: Michael Wood, Jay and Justin Green, Madelyn Churchill and two great- grandchildren, Kayden and River. Visitation will be held Friday, May 6th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 2403 Harrison Avenue, Panama City, FL 32405. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 7th 11:00 AM at Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, 222 N Bonita Ave, Panama City, FL 32401. A committal service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 3733 Highway 231 North, Panama City, FL 32404. Near to Lou’s heart were his wife and family, his church, flying and the USAF, and teaching. He was a graduate of West Point and then served in the Air Force from 1952 – 1980, reaching the rank of Colonel. He fell in love with Panama City after two tours at Tyndall AFB. He was commander of Tyndall AFB during his second tour. After retirement, He returned to Panama City and built his home himself. He served the Bay County as a professor at Gulf Coast Community College, where he taught Construction management, construction estimating, Concrete Design and testing, Surveying, Soils, Tech. Writing, Contractor licensing. He taught graduate level courses at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, including Airport Management, Planning and Design of Airports, Production and Procurement, Project Management, Research and Writing. He served on the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, The Board of Early Childhood Services Head Start Program, The Bay County Construction Industry Advisory Committee and the Vestry at his Church, The Holy Nativity Episcopal Church, Panama City, FL. In Lieu of Flowers, the family asks that donations be given to Holy Nativity Episcopal Church or Bay County Salvation Army
