Louis “Lou” Geneva, 90, of Panama City Beach, Florida and formerly of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5th, 2024. Lou was born in Portland, Maine – one of six children to Frank and Mercedes (Shaw) Geneva.

He graduated from South Portland High School (Class of 1953), served in the United State Marine Corp (1953-1956) and graduated from Ohio State University (Class of 1961).

Lou was a manufacturing supervisor with the Delco-Remy division of General Motors Corporation, located in Anderson, IN and retired in 1992, with 31 years of service. In 1999, Lou and his wife Arlene relocated to Panama City Beach, FL. Once settled in Florida, Lou enjoyed 14 years working in the cart barn at the Hombre Golf Club where he and Arlene made lifelong friends that are revered to this day.

Lou proudly served as a former President of the Jamaican Lake Homeowners Association, was a member of the Panama City Beach Veterans of Foreign Wars (Post 10555) and a member of the Fleet Reserve Association (Club 346).

Lou had a big heart and was quite a jokester. He could hold a conversation with anyone and always had a story to tell (usually a funny one). He was passionate about every project he was involved with, and lived his motto of “work hard, then play hard”. He loved to play golf, and he loved his wife, family, and friends immensely.

Lou was preceded in death by his daughter Anita Louisa Geneva, brother Maurice Geneva, sister Dulcie Boice, sister Norma Dana and brother Frank Geneva.

Left to treasure his memory is the love of his life for 49 years, his wife Arlene (Springer) Geneva, his daughter Nichel Adams of Troy, NC, his son Louis Geneva, Jr. of Albemarle, NC, his step-son Andrew Dent and wife Denise of Fort Wayne, IN, his step-daughter Allison Angelico and husband Daniel of Boston, MA, his sister Carol Robertson of Bangor, ME, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of a wake, the family invites you to a Celebration of Life at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 10th, at The Blake at Panama City Beach.

Memorial contributions may be made in Lou’s memory to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, or the  Bay County Council on Aging.
