Lydia Carolyn Phillips, 84, of Lynn Haven FL, passed away on May 13th after losing a hard fought battle with lymphoma.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. May 16th at Kent-Forest Lawn. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Reverend Tom Daniel of Lynn Haven First Baptist Church will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Evergreen around 3:00 p.m.
Carolyn was born in Ariton, AL on Oct. 27, 1935. She was married to Harold Phillips on Dec. 5th, 1953 for 66 years.
Carolyn worked in food service for Lynn Haven Elementary. She initially volunteered to substitute for two days but retired 30 years later. An avid gardener, she daily walked the entire yard perimeter to assess growth from the previous day. After chemo treatments in Birmingham she’d enter the house and go directly outside for yard inspections. The kitchen was her domain as she delivered beyond everybody’s expectation.
Survived by spouse Harold, sons Gary and Ray, grandchildren Ryan, Allie & Collin, 2 great grandchildren, 2 daughter-in-laws, 2 brothers and 1 sister, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents Gilbert & Alga Sue Garner, brother Cullen Garner, and sister Sarah Marshall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are asked to be directed to Lynn Haven First Baptist Church building fund.
