Tribute

Peggy "Lynda" Stevens Zehner, 79 passed away at Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center in Panama City on January 9, 2020, following surgery for a head injury she suffered during a fall at her home on November 27, 2019. Lynda was born December 12, 1940, in Wewahitchka, Florida, the first of two children born to Percy Gordon and Frieda Lynn Barrington Stevens (both now deceased). Her family moved to Panama City, Florida about 1945, where Lynda grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Bay High School in 1958. She married James Reid, Jr. on October 4, 1958. James and Lynda had two children: Teresa "Terri" Lynn Reid Burdeshaw (Steve), and Steven Craig Reid (Brenda). Lynda eventually married the love of her life, William "Bill" James Zehner, Sr. on September 20, 1969, and became the mother of his son, William J. Zehner, Jr. (Catherine). As much joy as her children brought her, Lynda's greatest happiness in life came from becoming "MEMOM" to each of her grandbabies: Lindsey Burdeshaw Thompson (Will), Wesley "Adam" Burdeshaw, Kathryn Zehner Hudson (Adam), Zachary Zehner, Taylor Reid Conrad (Colton), and two Great-nieces who grew up believing she was 100% their Memom too, Stevens and Shelby Roberson, all of the Panama City area, and Craig Prince (Anne) and Brittany Synder (Blake). Lynda was the great-grandmother of 11 children, whose births each brought her even more happiness and pride. Lynda earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from the University of West Florida in 1980 and was employed at the Panama City Dialysis Center until her retirement in 1994. She loved to travel, sail, read, spoil her grandbabies, and love her many animals, particularly her dogs. Lynda is survived by her husband of fifty years, Bill Zehner, her sister, Barbara Stevens Daniel (married to Lynda's best friend, John), her niece, Kelly Roberson (Jim), her nephew, John "JD" Daniel, all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the last in a lifelong string of beloved dogs, Happy. Lynda's presence will be sorely missed and she will be remembered forever by her many friends and family for her gentleness, pleasant personality, quirkiness, brilliance, love of animals and babies, selfless thoughtfulness, adventurous spirit, and quiet strength in adversity. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home where funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Lynn Haven Cemetery. Kent Forest Funeral Home, 2403 Harrison Ave. Panama City, 32405, 850-763-4694. www.kentforestlawn.com
