Malroute “Mal” J. Hellett, 89 of Panama City Beach, passed away July 16, 2017 at Chester A. Sims VA Nursing Home. Mal was born November 26, 1927 in Nemacolin, PA to James and Anna (Hallman) Hellett. Mal is a WWII and Korean War Army Air Corp Veteran. He was an accomplished pilot, charter captain pilot and race car driver. Mal worked in the automobile retail industry for most of his career. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Helen and his second wife of 30 plus years, Patricia Hellett in 1998. Mal is survived by his children, Mal Hellett of Panama City Beach, Regis Hellett of Panama City, Pam (Dr. Gerrie) Barr of Panama City Beach, James Hellett of Deer Point Lake, Lee Hellett of Vancouver, BC and Lynn (Adam) Hensley of Nashville, TN and his thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Friends will be received Thursday from 6-8 pm at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Graveside funeral services will take place 11 am, Friday at Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.
