Margie Ferrell Novota, of Panama City, Florida, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Sunday afternoon, June 30, 2019, in Gainesville, FL. Margie was born November 19, 1937, in Caryville, Florida, to James Buel and Rebecca Anice Ferrell. She is a graduate of Bay High School and furthered her education at West Florida University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Employed with the Bay County School System for more than 32 years, Margie was a cherished first grade teacher beginning at Springfield Elementary then at Northside Elementary until her retirement. Margie’s beloved Charlie preceded her in passing to his heavenly home on October 20, 2013. She is survived by their son, John Thomas Novota of Denver, Co., and their daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Tad Miller of Gainesville, FL. She also is survived by her brother, James Paul Ferrell, and sister, Beth Woods. Her beloved grandchildren, Christa, Michayla, George, and Gracie Miller; as well as Grant and Paige Novota will greatly miss their beloved Nana. Aunt Margie to numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great niece and a great nephew will always be thankful for their beloved Aunt Margie. She was a faithful member of The Rock of Bay County and best known for her continuous smiles, hugs, and words of encouragement. At the age of 70, she bravely began art classes with Geno Peoples at the encouragement of her friend, Barbara Gibson. The beautiful paintings that were created during this time brought great joy to each friend and family member when shared. What an amazing talent was awakened. Friends and family will be received from 9 -10 A.M. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will begin at 10:00 and interment immediately following.
