Maria M. Bilelo, 95, of Panama Clty, FL, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2019, in the
Lakeview Terrace Health Center, Altoona, FL. She had been transferred from Lisenby Skilled
Care Facility in Panama City on October 9,2018, the day before Hurricane Michael hit the area.
Maria was born in Portugal and came to the United States with her parents as a child. Maria
earned four degrees including a Masters in Micropaleontology and a Ph.D. at FSU in
Multilingual and Multicultural Education. She was a gifted teacher at SMU in Austin, Texas,
and the public school systems in Dallas and Panama City, FL. She was preceded in death by
her parents and one sister. She is survived by her brother, Al Bilelo and his wife, Flo
Bilelo. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John's Catholic Church with Rev. Kevin McQuone
officiating on June 3,2019 at l1 am. Visitation will be from 10 am until time of service.
