Michael Sands Boyden, age 77, of Panama City, Florida, passed away peacefully October 24, 2020 at home after a prolonged illness.            
Michael is survived by his wife Charlotte, a son Steven Boyden of California, a beloved step-daughter Amanda Willis (Chad) of Chipley, two sisters; Joan Kemp (Lonnie) of Denver and Susan Barrett of Pensacola, one brother William Boyden (Peggy) of Savannah, nephews Paul Artman of Pensacola and John Price of Denver; nieces Libby Boyden of Savannah, Janet Boyden of Sarasota and Jeanne Nelms of Denver;  and several other great-nieces and great-nephews, and many grandchildren.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents Joseph Lester Boyden and Margaret Sclease, a sister Carol Cotter and his nephew Bobby Boyden.
After Michael fulfilled his military duty with the USAF he worked and retired from the Pensacola Fire Department where he attained the rank of Captain, there he made many lifelong friends. After retirement he loved being a mentor at several middle schools and enjoyed showing troubled kids to not only dream a dream but that the dream is attainable with hard work.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed all nature had to offer such as fishing, hunting, and trapping, and he was also passionate about scuba diving. He also loved seeing our great country while traveling and camping. He was always looking for the next adventure.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Covenant Hospice who provided love and tenderness to Michael at the end of his journey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated 10 am Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Interment will take place 1 pm Friday at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, FL.
