He then served in the United States Army. In 1977 he married Julie Ann Nixon (Dutton) who would become his wife of 44 years. He is survived by his wife, all of his children, and 7 adoring grandchildren, to whom he was known as"Poppy". He also leaves behind his mother, Edna. Sister, Lee Ann and two brothers, Ed and William. He was preceded in death by his father. George worked hard for a long time and as a result he spent many years dealing with physical pain and health complications. We are comforted in knowing he is free of all suffering and is finally at peace with The Lord in heaven. George had a special love for animals. His chihuahua Bear, and all of the other pets he acquired along the way, were important parts of his life. He enjoyed motorcycles and tinkering in his garage. He loved music and passed that love down to his children and grandchildren. George could always be counted on for a crazy story and good laugh. His sense of humor and generous heart will be cherished in our memories. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 12, 202, at 11 a.m. at Kent Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
